Packing is one of the most stressful aspects of moving. a smart approach when considering how to pack for a move is first to gather the moving supplies you’ll need and then systematically go room-by-room until the job is done.
Here are some easy packing guidelines:
- Pack like items together with the heaviest items on the bottom. Pack each box with a layer of paddings such as household goods, like blankets or towels, newspapers, or bubble wrap. First, pack the heaviest items into the box followed by lighter items.
- Label each box by room and by its contents. Labelling each box save a great deal when unpacking as it makes it easier to know which items are packed in which boxes and the room they belong to. This saves unpacking time.
Pack all essentials in one box. Must-have items like screwdrivers, hammers, snacks, drinks, toothbrushes, a change of clothes, paper plates, plastic utensils and cups, a first-aid kit, medications, etc. should be packed in one box and labelled correctly. - Avoid filling boxes to the brim. This prevents boxes from becoming super heavy and reduces the likelihood that they break or are dropped during transit.
